The Munich Satellite Navigation
Summit 2009 - the seventh one, to be
held March 3 - 5,
2009 in the famous ”Residenz München”,
Germany - has been established as the
European and International conference with
global impact featuring invited high-ranking worldwide speakers from industry,
science and governments dealing with the directions of satellite navigation now
and in the future.
The Summit starts on March 3,
2009, 17.00 hrs with the Opening
Plenary Panel. A Bavarian State Reception in the famous ”Residenz
München” is giving opportunities for networking.
The technical program of the Munich Satellite Navigation
Summit presents on March 4, 2009 a concise update on the main activities in worlwide satellite
navigation systems, in particular on
the progressing development of the
European satellite navigation system Galileo,
the modernisation of the US Global
Positioning System (GPS-III),
the revitalisation of the Russian
GLONASS system and its transition from FDMA to CDMA,
the development of new (regional) satellite
systems like the Chinese COMPASS, the Japanese QZSS and the
Indian IRNSS,
the developments of new regional augmentation systems,
and other exciting worldwide activities in
the receiver field and service creation.
The Munich Satellite Navigation Summit will further highlight the creation
of new applications and services in
satellite navigation, in combination with
telecommunication and
information technology, in particular
geo-information technology
Various sessions will
feature discussions among invited panellists talking about perspectives
and critical issues in various rapidly growing application scenes
of satellite navigation, in particular with Galileo. Brief presentations
and statements of the panellists are initiating each session. An
interactive question and answer period with the auditorium is
closing the topic.
Emphasizing a future trend in satellite navigation, this
year's Summit will focus on special sessions on safety and security, in particular also
on the use of the Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS).
Due to the great
success again in 2009:
An
exhibition for industry and institutions
is taking place during the conference.
A visit to the
German Galileo Test Environment GATE - now
open for operational use - south
of Munich, will be offered.
The
European Satellite Navigation Competition 2009
will be opened.
The Summit is part of the
efforts of the Bavarian government and the cluster on aerospace and
satellite navigation to stimulate applications and services in this
high-tech field in the greater area around Munich.
It is organized by the Institute of
Geodesy and Navigation of the University FAF Munich in
cooperation with and supported by numerous
organizations outlined here.
