is a Professor at SUPAERO (the French Aerospace Engineering Institute of Higher Education), in charge of graduate and post-graduate programmes in aerospace electronics and communications. His research interests cover many aspects of satellite communications and navigation (physical and access layers, system engineering...) within the TeSA co-operative research laboratory (www.tesa.prd.fr). He has co-authored many publications in satellite communications and navigation, including textbooks, such as " Satellite Communications Systems " published by Wiley.
Editor-in-Chief of the Space Communications Journal, member of the Editorial Boards of several technical journals, member of the Steering Board of the SatNEx Network of excellence, he plays an active role in promoting R&D results from European universities and industry through active participation in Technical Committees of IEEE and AIAA international conferences.
Lecture: Basics of Satellite Communication
The objective of this lecture is to give an introduction to satellite communication. A broad overview on communication systems is provided: system architecture depending on application, type of orbits of interest and related communication architecture, communication satellite and payload organisation, basics on communication link and multiple access, etc. The evolution of technologies, systems architecture and services conclude the presentation.
